Find Your Balance

Lately I have felt some unbalance in my life. Can you relate? You have areas where you feel things are going pretty well, but something just seems a little off. Sometimes, we have no idea why we feel that way and other times we can pinpoint exactly what is missing. Recently for me the area of unbalance in my life is that of a physical nature. I have been seeing so many people around me doing so many amazing things to better their health and take care of their bodies. We only get one body in this life and so we should rightfully take care of it. 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” This is an area that I have been falling short in for a long time. Sure, I pay attention to what I eat and have mostly always tried to incorporate healthy foods into my diet and have tried to moderate the foods that are not as good for me, but I am not the best at that. I have a weakness for sweets of all variety, but more than that, I have lacked exercise as a regular routine in my life. This has been heavily due to lack of passion and motivation and I have been full of excuses about not having time to work out. I hesitated on sharing this as I want to be sure to share for the right reasons. So, my hope is that even just one person might read this and feel motivated by it, feel that one last nudge that they needed to get started on getting healthier. That was exactly what I needed and now I am finally doing something about it! I have joined a small accountability group, with a great coach and we are doing the LIIFT4 Challenge through Beachbody!! We are halfway through our 8-Week Challenge. This is 4 days a week of a challenging 30-40 minute workout that typically consists of lifting, some crazy cardio and a little bit of core movement. I know for some, this would be no big thing and that’s awesome, but for me, this is major! I have NEVER worked out consistently for 4 weeks in a row and I am really loving it! I have also discovered that I really enjoy lifting weights! Who knew??!! It’s not always easy to find time, but now I am learning to make time. Sometimes I stay up late, take a lunch break, whatever needs to be done and I am finding that something I used to make excuses to get out of, I am now craving to do each day! So far, I have only lost a few pounds, but for me, a big weight-loss is not the goal (though dropping a few more would be ok...lol), but my goal is to get more tone and definition and to just feel stronger and healthier overall, which I am already feeling! If you want any more info about the challenge I’m doing, don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d be happy to answer any questions. I am not advertising or anything, just sharing what is finally working for me and I know we’re all different and motivated in different ways. What works for one might not work for another. I also want to say to those that have been doing things to try and better your health and have been sharing those on social media, thank you!! There are a few people that have really inspired me to get off my butt and start trying to get in shape and some of you may not even know that you have given me inspiration. I can't name everyone, but my husband has definitely inspired me with his own dedication to working out and now he is so supportive of me working out, which means the world to me! My coach (and friend) has also inspired me with seeing the hard work and dedication that she has put into fitness and encouraging others to join her on that journey. I am also thankful for the other women I get to do this challenge with, one of whom is such a dear friend and inspires me all of the time not only with how she manages to stay fit but just how she is such an amazing mom to her kids and a great friend! I could go on, but this is getting long. So, I just want to close by saying that, balance can be hard to find. We get pulled in so many directions with our families, jobs, friends and other responsibilities and obligations, but you won’t be any help to anyone if you are way off balance in your own life and are not caring for yourself. I am learning this slowly. Lol. We need to take some time to take care of ourselves, physically, mentally and spiritually so we can have the energy and strength to care for the people that we love! God bless!
