I'm not sure why, but on the way into work this morning the idea came into my mind to start a blog. Perhaps it was on my mind as there are a few Facebook friends that have one for various purposes and I often enjoy reading them. Maybe it is because I enjoy writing or it could even be that God put this on my heart to do. Whatever the reason, I am going to give it a try. I don’t know if anyone will read this or not, but hopefully for anyone that does, you will find something useful to take away from it. I just thought this would be a fun way to share with you some of the things that God has been teaching me through my walk with Him. To give you a brief summary of my background, I was raised Catholic and quit going to church shortly after Confirmation, around age 16 or 17. I never stopped believing in God but for the following 12 years or so, I was not living my life for Him in any way. It wasn't until 2009 when I started attending a non-denominational church, that I really began to know God and to turn my life over to Him. Of course there are always challenges on every journey but I can't even really express the depth of which God has come into my heart and completely changed my life. He has taught me, strengthened me, healed me, grown me, blessed me, forgiven me and most importantly, loved me. I had never known before what it meant to really have a relationship with God, not just to ask Him for help when in a rut, make empty promises and then jump ship. It is so different to really know Him and who He really is. I want to keep learning more about Him and continue growing closer and I would love to share my thoughts with you, no matter where you are in your faith. If you ever want the extended version of my life before and after Jesus, I would love to share it with you! I am hoping to write on different topics in coming weeks. I will try to allow God to speak wisdom into this blog. Please pray that He will humble me and use me to help others and speak truth to those who choose to read these pages. I pray that He will bless you all and that you will know the love He has for you.
Find Your Balance Lately I have felt some unbalance in my life. Can you relate? You have areas where you feel things are going pretty well, but something just seems a little off. Sometimes, we have no idea why we feel that way and other times we can pinpoint exactly what is missing. Recently for me the area of unbalance in my life is that of a physical nature. I have been seeing so many people around me doing so many amazing things to better their health and take care of their bodies. We only get one body in this life and so we should rightfully take care of it. 1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.” This is an area that I have been falling short in for a long time. Sure, I pay attention to what I eat and have mostly always tried to incorporate healthy foods into my diet and have tried to moderate the foods that are not as good for me, but I am not the best at that. I have a weakness for sweets of all variety, but more than that...
