Beloved
There is a lot of hurt in this world and a lot of evil. There is an enemy who wants to fight for our very souls and he will use many means to try and do just that. He will use hate to turn man against man, lies to make you believe that you are worthless, fear to keep you from doing the things you feel called to do. The opposite of these are Love, Truth, Value and Courage. These are things we all want and need, to be loved, to know the truth, to have value and to feel brave enough to conquer the obstacles before us. We can get some of what we need from validation in others and from help from others, but no person can fulfill your every need and I am going to tell you right now the opposite of what the world says, you will not find it within yourself! If it can be found within yourself, where did it come from? When I tried to find my own answers within myself all by myself, it was not pretty. The good news is that we don't have to have all of the answers. Go to God with your troubles. He is the One with the answers, the good ones, the right ones and even better is that He loves you more than anyone else and with the perfect kind of love that no human can even comprehend, yes you, the one reading this. I want to use my favorite song right now to try and paint you a picture of how much God loves you. This song makes me cry sometimes because of the magnitude of the meaning within it. It amazes me that God could love me this much. The name of the song is Reckless Love. I am not going to put all of the lyrics here, but you should definitely look them up and look up the song on YouTube. My favorite version is by Steffany Gretzinger. The chorus says: Oh, the overwhelming, never-ending, reckless love of God
Oh, it chases me down, fights 'til I'm found, leaves the ninety-nine
I couldn't earn it
I don't deserve it
Still You give yourself away.
When I first heard this song I wasn't sure what leaves the ninety-nine meant, so I looked it up. “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.
Matthew 18:12-14 NIV.
We are the one sheep. God will run to rescue the one who is lost. When you really understand the weight of that....it leaves you in overwhelming awe and gratitude. The bridge of the song is my favorite part. It goes: There's no shadow You won't light up
Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
No lie You won't tear down
Coming after me.
I especially love that last line because God will tear down the lies that we have bought into...I'm not good enough, I am a failure, I hurt people, no one could ever love me...whatever the lies are that the enemy has spoken to you, that's exactly what they are is lies. You are a precious child of God. He created you to be uniquely you. Do not compare yourself to anyone. They were created to be uniquely them. God doesn't make mistakes. He made you who you are for a purpose and it's ok if you feel like you don't yet know that purpose. He does. He is good. He is love. Be blessed Beloved.
